Skanste is one of the most promising areas in the new Riga. Its potential is magnified by a territory developed by the construction company Merks spanning an area of approximately 21 hectares.
A brief walk away from the centre of Riga, Skanste challenges and inspires. Its visual appearance will be defined by audacious architectonic solutions blending green outdoor space and light spacious office buildings with elegant homes and vibrant entertainment and shopping districts. This is a place where the most daring dreams can be realized.
Skanste is already home to the new headquarters of two of Latvia’s leading banks, as well as to Arēna Rīga, Latvia’s leading venue for major sports events and outstanding popular music concerts, and a number of multi-storey apartment buildings. The development of Skanste sets the standard for new urban construction in Riga. Modern architecture is complemented by thorough planning, intelligent infrastructure, and the provident use of contemporary materials and construction technologies.

The district of Skanste is evolving in an area which for decades was home to the gardens of Rigans. A brand new communications-engineering infrastructure has been designed and already partially built for the entire 21 ha territory providing it with full access to the city’s utility services. Pedestrian paths, shrubbery, kids’ playgrounds and sports fields have also been built alongside the buildings already in place. In time a square will also be built here.
Investments in Skanste are particularly lucrative due to its ideal location alongside Riga's historical centre, its close proximity to transport hubs, and the opportunity for investors to realize their ideas in the territory’s overall building context. The Port of Riga and Central Railway Station are 15 minutes walk away as are the Old Town with its cosy cafés and business institutions, Opera House, theatre, and Olympic Sports Centre. In turn, the rapidly expanding Riga International Airport can be reached in 20 minutes from where direct flights are available to all of Europe’s major cities.
